The tear trough starts to form in the late thirties any by mid to late forties is quiet prominent in most people.
It starts close to the inner corner of the eye, moving in a diagonal line outwards across the cheek.
It is perceived that the area looks darker (it may not be) as it casts a shadow but it can give a tired appearance. The tear trough forms as a result of fat loss in this area and is part of the aging process. It can occur quite rapidly in some people.
Tear trough s can be improved by filling using a light dermal filler. It is a skilled procedure and requires to be done by a skilled advance medically qualified practitioner who has injected for several years. Only a doctor should carry out this procedure.
Juvederm® 2 or 3 is used depending on the thinness of the skin.
It will rise quite allot for the first 5- 7 days. There will be swelling for about one week. You will be given instructions specifically to you, as each individual is different. They procedure should never be undertaken lightly but can create a marked improvement through filing.
In some patents more diffuse volume loss s can be treated with Sculptra®. Please see this section. Usually 2-3 treatment are needed but one vial can make a visible difference in the right patient.
Dr Brookes has much experience with both treatment types.
