Viridian medical uses Restylane products manufactured by Q Med, a Swedish company,for all these procedures. If a different filler is used this will be discussed first

Restylane is a crystal-clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel based on a substance which occurs naturally in the body, called hyaluronic acid. The gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The treatment  instantly smoothes away lines and wrinkles giving you long-lasting, natural enhancement. It comes in different densities suitable for different areas or depth of wrinkle/fold

Restylane has undergone extensive clinical studies, and since 1996 more than 2 million people have been successfully treated in more than 60 countries worldwide. Unlike some treatments, for example Collagen, there is NO need for a prior skin test.

The session typically takes less than half an hour, but the time varies depending on the correction being performed. The procedure leaves no scars or other traces on the face.

The advantage of Restylane is that it is manufactured rather than being extracted from animal sources. As such there is no risk of an allergic reaction.  

JUVÉDERM® ULTRA and TEOSYAL® are considered the ‘next generation’ of semi-permanent dermal fillers, they represents the cutting edge in hyaluronic acid cosmetic fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a complex sugar already found naturally in the body, because of this fillers such as Juvaderm, from Botox manufacturers Allergan, and Teosyal have high bio-compatibility. It is becoming ever more popular for filling out the areas of the face where the skin’s natural fullness and volume has been lost.

Evolence is a porcine dervied collagen with a much longer duration of upto 12-15 months. Particularly effective for lip contouring and nasolabial lines.

The porcine collagen has been biologically treated to remove possibilities of allergic reaction (a potential problem with traditional collagen fillers).It is injected into the fatty layer under the skin and has more substantial feel than the hyaluronic acid fillers.

Facial sculpting for cheekbones can be performed but the filler can be felt under the skin and may not suit all clients expectations. However, it can have a very pleasing and striking effect.

The treatment adds volume beneath the skin by injecting into the crease or fold, which then lifted up and instantly smoothes away wrinkles, lines, and even deeper folds.

Typical examples are:
• Forehead lines both horizontal and vertical.
• Nose to mouth lines.
• Corner of Mouth to chin lines or ‘Marionette’ lines.
• ‘Crows feet’ lines around the eyes.

Please note many more types of lines can be filled, such as long ‘crows feet’ extending to the cheek or deep chin lines. The above are the most commonly requested.

For wrinkle treatments, apart from the forehead, a topical anaesthetic is usually needed. This is a gel applied 30 minutes prior to the procedure.

For lip procedures and ‘marinoette’ lines, a dental block is highly recommended as it will allow easier application of the filler and massage afterwards. All patients would be assessed for their suitability to have a block.

Immediately after the treatment there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears within a few days. If the discomfort continues or if other reactions occur, you should always contact us.

The wrinkle treatment is long-lasting but not permanent. The length of time a treatment maintains its effect depends on how quickly the body absorbs the product, and depends on the individual’s age, skin type, and muscle activity. Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment four to nine months after the initial treatment of wrinkles.
