The “ bingo wing” is created when a fold of skin and fat hangs down in a concave drape from the lower arm of the tricep muscle) when it is out stretched. The Bingo wing represents a significant challenge to the cosmetic doctor and surgeon to correct. In patients over 45 the skin is as much the problem as fat and skin shrinkage is needed to make the arm look slimmer even if the fat is removed.

What are the treatment options?

Cosmetic surgery

Although not technically difficult this involves removing a portion of skin and fat from the lower arm to stream line it. However the big disadvantage with this is a large vertical scar left running up the back of the arm. Whilst this may be acceptable if someone has lost a large amount of weight and the skin fold left interferes with function , for most women it is not attractive

VASER Liposelection® for Bingo Wing reduction

Offers a real minimally invasive treatment option as the skin retraction with VASER is reported so good. Dr Brookes can vouch for the skin retraction she has seen in  areas of the abdomen which can sometimes be quite significant.

The VASER procedure for Bingo wing reduction is carried out in an operating theatre with you awake. A special anaesthetic is infused into the bingo fat layer. One (or occasionally 2) small incision are made near the elbow. The ultrasonic probe is inserted to break down the fat. The fragmented fat is then sucked out. Each arm make 20 – 40 minutes

A garment is worn for 1 week continuously and then 12 hrs a day for UPTO 12 weeks to help skin retraction. Results can VARY between individuals and very lax skin may be unsuitable

Smartlipo laserlipolysis ®

Is useful in younger patients where only the fat is a problem. Skin retraction may not be sufficient in an older person

Accent RF®

Is useful stand alone treatment in an  older arm especially if the skin is very creepy
